  Hi John,

My guess to. Just strange that it's weight is so much. Maybe Viking?

  Hey Quito

It might be a Button as John Suggest think the diameter 30mm is a pretty big button, but still it's the most likely: www.detecting.dk/coppe...63863.html

It could be the bottom of a small bell but think its not deep enough and the cast do not seem that thin: www.detecting.dk/coppe...62789.html

The shape of the (Botton) have been produced since the Vikingeage and through the centuries until the late 1700 centurie, verry difficult to classify, have you found anything else on your surchfield that could suggest an approximate age?

  Hi Per,

Thanks for your reply. The national museum from Roskilde has been excavating a site in Jyllinge before the start of building some new football fields. They found some wooden foundations. I got premision from the komunne to have a look there after they took the layer of dirt away. I found the object 25cm in the clay ground together with some nails etc..

The thing that make me think that it's a button is the thing on the back, look's like a eye for some string. Button's come in a lot of different sizes i allso found one that messured 3 cm.
